Lion and lioness mating in Tarangire, Tanzania
This male lion (standing) and lioness (laying down) are into an intense mating mode that can last several days and take dozens of "sessions". Here's a bizarre fact I learned there: it is common for direct brothers of the male lion to "help out". Seriously, that's what our guide told us, and we actually saw it happening.

The lion is one of the five big cats in the genus "Panthera" and a member of the family Felidae. The commonly used term African lion collectively denotes the several subspecies found in Africa. With some males exceeding 250 kg in weight, it is the second-largest living cat after the tiger.
