  1. Whoa, what an intimate perspective! Was it this calm? Posted 3 years ago
    1. Funny you should mention that. It was the first sunny, warm day we have had in what seems forever and the beach where this tree was had at least thirty people, dogs running everywhere, people had fires, there were lots of birds, gulls, oystercatchers, scaups as well as another juvenile eagle in another tall fir tree not far away. About 30m down the beach there were also two adults perched high up in the same tree. This fellow remained in the tree for at least a half an hour just watching what was going on and enjoying the sunshine like everyone else. Posted 3 years ago
      1. Nice, it must have really needed that sun shine. Same here, really :) Posted 3 years ago

    1. Thank you. This family may have been hanging around the beach after feasting on a sea lion carcass that was washed up on the beach a week or so ago. Posted 3 years ago

The bald eagle is a bird of prey found in North America. A sea eagle, it has two known subspecies and forms a species pair with the white-tailed eagle, which occupies the same niche as the bald eagle in the Palearctic. Its range includes most of Canada and Alaska, all of the contiguous United States, and northern Mexico.
