Grove Snail (Cepaea nemoralis)
Also called the Brown-lipped snail or Black Mouthed banded snail, the Grove snail is a species of air-breathing land snail (or terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc) and one of the most common species of land snail in Europe.
It inhabits damp spots in a wide range of habitats, from gardens to grasslands, woods to hedges.
They are hermaphrodites, so have organs of both sexes, but need to mate in order for each snail to fertilise their own eggs. They then bury their eggs in soil.
They are also polymorphic, so the colour and markings of the shells vary greatly.

The grove snail or brown-lipped snail is a species of air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc. It is one of the most common species of land snail in Europe and has been introduced to North America.
