The Painted Buttonquail is a species of buttonquail, the family Turnicidae, which resemble, but are unrelated to, the quails of Phasianidae. This species is resident in Australia. A subspecies, the Abrolhos Painted Button-quail , is endemic to the Houtman Abrolhos islands.
