Opisthoxia eusiraria, Finca Heimatlos It&#039;s an overall pretty moth to look at but you&#039;ll appreciate it even more when you have a closer look at the fake eyes on the wings. They are believable even to the human eye. Compare to an ordinary &quot;eye&quot; on a butterfly wing:<br />

They are flat, there&#039;s no 3D effect and the illusion of a reflection is baked into the pattern of the eye as white scales. The fake eyes on this moth seem to be in actual 3D, it&#039;s a noticeable bump. Further, the reflection is real. You can see the two flash units from my ring flash in the eyes.
