Chelodina rugosa is a snake-necked turtle turtles from the family (Chelidae). The species previously belonged to the genus Macrochelodina, and before that was the species to the genus Chelodina counted, so that the scientific naming is sometimes confusing. The species was first scientifically described by William Ogilby in 1890.
