Ochre-breasted antpitta - 4, Angel Paz, Ecuador
The third and last antpitta we saw at Angel Paz, where they are lured with worms. This is an antpitta from the Grallaricula genus, the smallest of antpittas. In the wild they are elusive like all antpittas and hard to discover due to their small size, but fairly tolerant once found.
This individual was named Shakira by the reserve owner. We first though it was a random name, but the bird actually rhythmically shakes her hips after perching.

The ochre-breasted antpitta is a species of bird placed in the family Grallariidae. It is found in Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, and Peru. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
