
Yellow-breasted antpitta, Angel Paz, Ecuador
Angel Paz is a place where the owner has cultivated a relationship of trust with a select few species of antpitta, by regularly feeding them worms at the same time every day in a safe place.
This still does not guarantee seeing them, though. In particular in rainy weather the antpittas can easily find their own worms and simply won't come. We had been in the reserve for 5 hours already and had yet to see any antpittas. This one was the ice breaker. During the long waits, you can't let your guard down. The entire moment is "peck peck...bye now".

The yellow-breasted antpitta is a species of bird in the family Grallariidae. It is found in Colombia and Ecuador. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.
