Yellow-breasted antpitta, Angel Paz, Ecuador Angel Paz is a place where the owner has cultivated a relationship of trust with a select few species of antpitta, by regularly feeding them worms at the same time every day in a safe place.<br />

This still does not guarantee seeing them, though. In particular in rainy weather the antpittas can easily find their own worms and simply won&#039;t come. We had been in the reserve for 5 hours already and had yet to see any antpittas. This one was the ice breaker. During the long waits, you can&#039;t let your guard down. 1. Another sweet pitta! I hope you did not have to sweat too much to get pics of these pittas!..they are very elusive as we have already mentioned in other spottings! do they also do the whistling sound as the asian pittas? Posted 3 years ago, modified 3 years ago
    1. You don't have to work very hard in this reserve to see them as their "stage" is in a fixed and known spot, it's mostly a waiting game. The bird is coming from that background, which is a very steep path downwards into a very dark forest.

This one did not make any sound, but indeed they seem to whistle:

  2. Two antpitta intros, well done! I'll have to step up my game!! Posted 3 years ago
    1. That's right. The clock is ticking mate. Soon all antpitta species intros will be gone. I'm actually typing this from the forest. I've been sitting here for a month on the floor waiting for an antpitta. I won't tell you which one. Posted 3 years ago
      1. Check behind that tree on your left! That's me hiding under that log! ;) Posted 3 years ago
        1. Was it also you doing the whistling? Posted 3 years ago
