Banded Greenhouse Thrip (Adult) - Hercinothrips femoralis Thrips puncture leaves, flowers, and stems of plants and suck up the exuding sap. Feeding damage causes a silvery appearance, browning, withering, and then plant death.

The adults are less than 0.5 mm long and I photographed them with a digital microscope.

I recently found these beasts on ~50 household plants. I suspect they came into my home in October, but I didn't notice them until about a month ago. I have been battling them ever since. They spread very quickly.
