This species is endemic to southern Mexico, where it has been recorded from the States of Puebla, Oaxaca, Hidalgo and central Chiapas. There is a disjunct population in Aguascalientes (Ramírez-Bautista et al. 1998, Vázquez and Quintero 2005) and Jalisco States (Rodríguez and Vázquez 1976), but this may represent an undescribed species. It has been recorded between 200 and 2,450 m asl.
