Tayra (Giant Weasel) chewing, Milpe Bird Sanctuary, Ecuador
Earlier on this day, we had lunch around the feeder and garden area where at one point I saw something large in the corner of my eye. By the time I looked, all I could see was a massive black tail leaving the scene.
The staff explained that it was a Tayra, nicknamed "Giant Weasel". We were obviously intruiged and were hoping for it to return. By chance, it did several hours later. The light was getting extremely low but Henriette managed to still get a few shots. Credit to her for these photos.

The tayra is an omnivorous animal from the weasel family, native to the Americas. It is the only species in the genus "Eira".
