  1. That's funny. For 10 years, we had a single species in this genus. And this week, two got added:

    1. Yes! I was even double checking the species name to make sure they were not already in JD. In Pairi daiza they have each in separate enclosures. I think one was first considered subspecies of the other but finally got separated as it’s own species. I read this somewhere. I will look for it tomorrow. Well, as always, happy to contribute, even if not all I am sharing these days has been seen in the wild :-) Posted 3 years ago

Scheepmaker's crowned pigeon is a large, terrestrial pigeon confined to the lowland forests of south eastern New Guinea. It has a bluish-grey plumage with elaborate blue lacy crests, red iris and very deep maroon breast.
