
Graphium sarpedon choredon
Graphium sarpedon choredon is one of 16 sub-species of Graphium sarpedon, based on differing geographical distributions.
A flighty, quick moving butterfly. Captured here taking moisture from recently wetted soil. The triangular-shaped wings are apparent and the dorsal surface is a vibrant turquoise-blue with black around the margins. Lovely indeed.
Seen in urban areas, forests and woodlands in the east and top end of this country.
Larvae have been observed feeding on plants within family Lauraceae such as blush walnut (Beilschmiedia obtusifolia), steelbutt (Endiandra impressicosta ) and bolly (Litsea reticulata).
