Leucistic Spitting Cobra! This was an amazing encounter but I didn't know it was a Spitting Cobra at the time I saw it, so wasn't aware of any potential danger! The goldish colour kind of threw me off as wasn't expecting to see this rarer form/colour.
I was going up a steep slope during a hike and this Cobra was slithering down the slope, so I was practically eye-to-eye level at it when I saw it! It didn't raised it's hood (hence couldn't tell it was a Cobra), continued to slither down around a tree and was just about a meter from where I was standing, I had to react quickly to get some pics, but my bright torch probably disturbed it and it quickly went into the bushes. I tried to chase after it but it was a lost cause.
Only knew the ID when I shared the pic to friends to find the ID. Not the best of pics, but happy to see this beauty. Cobra,Equatorial Spitting Cobra,Leucistic,Malaysia,Naja sumatrana,Penang,Snake,Spitting Cobra Click/tap to enlarge PromotedSpecies introCountry intro
