Red Maple Flowers - Acer rubrum

Red maple is one of the first trees to flower in early spring. The flowers are followed by two-winged samaras, aka helicopters, which are fun to stick on your nose.

The Red Maple

"Acer rubrum", is one of the most common and widespread deciduous trees of eastern North America. The red maple ranges from the Lake of the Woods on the border between Ontario and Minnesota, east to Newfoundland, south to near Miami, Florida, and southwest to east Texas.
