  1. This is a female. The curvy appendage on the rear is an ovipositor, found only in females. Simply put, it's like a tube that guides the laying of eggs. Posted 3 years ago

      2. All of this "Katydids" belong to the Sub-Order Ensifera. "Ensifer" is the Latin word for "sword bearer", and refers to the typically elongated and blade-like ovipositor of the females. Posted 3 years ago

''Phaneroptera nana'' is a species of 'katydids crickets' belonging to the family Tettigoniidae subfamily Phaneropterinae. This cricket is present in most of Europe, in the Near East and in North Africa.
