Hermit Thrush - Catharus guttatus Lesson learned from my birding hike yesterday -- birding is hard. I already knew this, but it is confirmed. You see a bird and by the time you get it in view and start to focus on it, it's gone. Perfectly camouflaged, hiding in the trees, or flitting from one spot to the next. So, you try to follow it around the forest, by sound, as it and its buddies laugh at you. I still like birding though. It's a great challenge!

Habitat: Mixed forest with mostly spruce. There were tons of birds, but I only managed to photograph 3, lol.
1. Definitely true, and bird photography is even harder, if you consider that traditional birding doesn't necessarily require a photo to be taken at all. I'm quite impressed by how close you're getting to them, good job. Posted 3 years ago

The Hermit Thrush is a medium-sized North American thrush. It is not very closely related to the other North American migrant species of "Catharus", but rather to the Mexican Russet Nightingale-thrush.
