Verreaux's eagle-owl is a member of the family Strigidae and is the largest African owl. This owl is the world's fourth heaviest living owl, after Blakiston's fish owl, the Eurasian eagle-owl and the tawny fish owl, and is also the fourth longest living owl, after the great gray, Blakiston's fish and Eurasian eagle-owls.
