      1. It's anecdotal, but I sometimes rub it on my arms when hiking. I *think* it helps keep the flies away -- at least the annoying divebomber flies. Posted 3 years ago

          1. Catnip and rosemary seem to work too. And, wild onion/garlic works, but the smell is intense and so hard to wash off. When I trapped mosquitoes, I would smear mud all over my skin. That was a great repellent. Posted 3 years ago

''Perovskia atriplicifolia'' , commonly called Russian sage, is a flowering herbaceous perennial plant and subshrub. Although not a member of ''Salvia'', the genus of other plants commonly called sage, it is closely related to them. It has an upright habit, typically reaching 0.5–1.2 m tall , with square stems and grey-green leaves that yield a distinctive odor when crushed.
