  2. It's amazing how our perspectives can change so drastically. I didn't even really like insects until I took an entomology class in grad school. I only took it because it seemed like it would be an easy A. But, I ended up changing my major to entomology afterwards! Posted 10 days ago
    1. I find very interesting to look back and see the casual circumstances that make us go in certain paths... Posted 10 days ago
      1. Hear, hear. I relate as 7 or 8 years ago I was a total arachnophobe, of course the huge huntsman we have here in Australia, but even down to the tiniest of spiders. As these were the only group of animals that gave me a problem (my issue - not theirs!), I decided I had to do something about the situation. Lots and lots of reading, self-education, slow physical exposure thanks to an arachnology friend and off I shot in to the awesome world of spiders and I've not regretted it one bit. Sure, I still jump if one surprises me, or if I walk through a web, but overall a real turn around. Fascinating creatures, I have so much respect.

So I am thrilled to learn of your change in attitude to Diptera, you didn't fear them as I did spiders, but they were 'neutral' to you....and now they bring you much intrigue, and that's wonderful. And I'll end with saying this is another superb macro!

        1. I really admire that you confronted your fear and did something about it. That says a lot about a person's personality. Thank you so much for sharing your story Ruth, and for your kind words ;-) Posted 9 days ago
