A Chestnut-backed Chickadee Enjoying Some Suet I am hoping that this photo doesn't conflict with the rules about man made structures. It was raining too hard to go outside so I thought about experimenting with the lens pressed up against the kitchen window and using the flash. Even though the suet feeder is only about 40cm from the window my friend is obviously more interested in the food than me taking the photo! 1. Well done! I would not have been able to tell that you took this through a window! I've been wanting to experiment with taking pics from inside, as well. We have a fox that comes through our yard, but it startles as soon as I open a door or window. Also, this doesn't violate any rules -- we just don't want humans in photos. And, this photo is a good addition to my Human Impact list. :)

    1. Glad no rules were violated! I have taken quite a few more than acceptable shots through windows. A couple of tips; watch for reflections. It’s better if the room is dark and try and get as close as you can to the window glass. If you are going to use a flash the lens has to be very close to the glass. In this photo it was right against the glass. Second, of course, the window has to be clean or just pick a cleaner part if you can find one! Posted 3 years ago
      1. Thanks for the tips! I didn't think to put the lens right up against the glass in my attempts, but it makes sense and I will definitely try it! Posted 3 years ago
        1. You are welcome. Being close to glass also prevents the camera from trying to focus on the dirt specks on the less than clean glass surface which, I am sure, never occurs in your house;) Posted 3 years ago
          1. Hehe, everything is always spotless here. My two boys never create a mess. ;P Posted 3 years ago
