Coprinopsis strossmayeri Came to this ID more by process of elimination - there are not too many Coprinopsis sp. here and this one at least matches the description well. For this species overall there really is not much information.... some accounts reference this as growing on dung others on wood. This particular one was growing on wood. <br />

  1. I love this mushroom series! Has it been a good season in the PNW? I think I missed the height of mushroom season here, but still saw lots of good ones. Posted 3 years ago
    1. Mushroom season is just getting going here... it is a little late, but it was very dry up until recently. Now it's been dumping... We've had an "atmospheric river" that's been giving us pretty much some daily rain for the last couple of weeks and cold enough at night to finally start spurring some real fruiting. Unless we get some really hard freezes we'll have mushrooms in the lowlands all winter long. Posted 3 years ago, modified 3 years ago
      1. Nice!! The PNW is so magical. We've had a hard frost already, but the season had already wound down. It was late here too, maybe by a couple weeks? Posted 3 years ago

A species of fungus in the family Psathyrellaceae. Possibly part of a species complex with C. variegata - a species known east of the Great Plains in the US.
