Yonahlossee Salamander

A beautiful Plethodon from the mountains of North Carolina, USA. This was a huge target of mine when exploring the North facing slopes of the mountains. In my opinion a top 3 in most beautiful US salamanders.

Look at this beauty! The Yonahlossee salamander (Plethodon yonahlossee) is a fairly large (11-22 cm) terrestrial salamander from the southern Appalachian Mountains in the United States.

This species has a couple of defining characteristics. First, they have direct development, meaning that juveniles look like miniature adults and do not go through an aquatic larval stage.
