
Broad-faced Mining Bee (Andrena proxima)
On a very blustery day in May, as I took this photo and the attached video, little did I know it would take me almost 6 months to almost (certainly) establish an ID, despite consulting those that are usually able to assist.
It appears the reason was, this is a rare bee in the UK, and is in a sub-species group with a few similar-looking cousins, a combination which required a highly trained, experienced and respected expert eye, to do 'pin it down'.
