
Paper Wasp (Vespidae) Nest Fragment
I found several pieces from a paper wasp nest on the ground in the woods. You can see the different layers of paper as the wasps got wood from different sources.
Paper wasps gather fibers from dead wood and plants, which they mix with spit and use to construct nests made of grayish papery material.
Habitat: Mixed forest
