Eastern Chipmunk - Tamias striatus
My mom was taking a break from filling her birdfeeders and she had left out the big bowl of birdseed that she uses to fill them. It didn't take the local chipmunks long to find the bowl on her deck. They took turns stuffing their cheeks, providing us with some much needed comic relief.
Habitat: Rural, forested backyard

The eastern chipmunk is a chipmunk species found in eastern North America. It is the sole living member of the chipmunk subgenus "Tamias", sometimes recognised as a separate genus. Its name comes from the Odawa word "ajidamoonh" or the Ojibwe word "ajidamoo", which translates literally as "one who descends trees headlong."
