Lesser Flamingo invasion at Momella lakes, Tanzania
A moment to remember on our Tanzania trip. Momella lakes consists of 3 lakes, 1 small, 2 big. This is one of the big lakes. There are so many flamingos here that the lake has a pink outline, reaching far beyond this view. These flamingos come here to feed on very specific algae, that grow well in the soda-rich waters. As feeding is easier for them standing than swimming, every undeep spot at the lake is taken.

The Lesser Flamingo is a species of flamingo occurring in sub-Saharan Africa with another population in India. Birds are occasionally reported from further north, but these are generally considered vagrants.
