
The Bath White is a small butterfly of the family "Pieridae", the Yellows and Whites, which occurs in the Palearctic region. It is common in central and southern Europe, migrating northwards every summer, often reaching southern Scandinavia and sometimes southern England.

Sometimes you just need some luck and a sharp eye - it's all about the spots - number, size, shape. You also need to have the right side of the wings, preferably both.
I was searching among the Euchloe species when I found this photo

It's easier to see the difference here when they are side by side. The Euchloe is more yellowish.

Most Pontia species have different shapes of the spots except for Pontia edusa which is nearly identical to Pontia daplidice. They cannot be distinguished from photos. Some scientists still consider them being one species - Pieris daplidice (Linnaeus, 1758).

This is not the best shot, but you can see the black spot on the forewing.
