Blue-Chinned Sapphire (Chlorestes notata)
A Blue-Chinned Sapphire hummingbird that I saw perched on our mango tree when I stepped outside for a walk after a full morning of class. This was my first encounter with this species, and also the only photo I managed to get in focus. The conditions were also optimal as the sunlight was not too strong and it was a cool 30 degree day.

The blue-chinned sapphire is a hummingbird that breeds from Colombia south and east to the Guianas, Trinidad, Peru, and Brazil. There have been occasional records from Tobago. For Brazil, the species' range is along the main Amazon River Basin, as well as the Atlantic Forest, both in the northeast, as well as far south on the southeast coastal strip.
