Australian stingless micro bee
One of our Tetragonula species of stingless bee, seen here on Nemesia. There were around 8 of them circling the plant. They are so very small, plus due to their black colour, at first I thought they were flies.
Of Australia's more than 1,700 species of native bees, less than 2% are stingless including 11 of the genus Tetragonula.
4 mm length

"Tetragonula carbonaria" is a stingless bee, endemic to the north-east coast of Australia. The bee is known to pollinate orchid species, such as "Dendrobium lichenastrum", "D. toressae", and "D. speciosum".
