  1. I am not quite sure what this is yet Ferdy, but it is not a Royal starling. Its beautiful and I will try to find out! I see it has a ring on it, was it taken in a bird park? Not going to be easy to identify without a continent but I can try!!! Posted 10 years ago, modified 10 years ago
    1. You're absolutely right, Claire. This photo is so old I don't recall where it was taken :( Given the capture date, if it was abroad, it would be in Brazil. If it was in the Netherlands, in some zoo. Posted 10 years ago
    2. The closest match I found are the trogon bird, not sure which one.

      1. Both looks close, the only difference I see is the ring around the eye. Posted 10 years ago
        1. It's probably not the right one, the tail doesn't match either. Posted 10 years ago
          1. That definitely is it, impressive persistence! Posted 10 years ago

The white-rumped shama is a small passerine bird of the family Muscicapidae. Native to densely vegetated habitats in the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, its popularity as a cage-bird and songster has led to it being introduced elsewhere.
