Crocodile fern  Microsorum musifolium is native to this country in the more temperate regions that do not receive frosts. At maturity, crocodile fern reaches heights of 0.6  to 1.5 m with a similar width. The long, leathery and broad leaves feature a very attractive mosaic pattern with veins in black and mid to dark green, resembling crocodile (or some say, snake) skin. <br />

    1. I believe so Christine, its natural range is in the more temperate, steamy areas in the north. (Based on the information I have from the nursery ticket, plus on line searches only. The nurseryman told me it is rare in its natural areas, but widely available thanks to easy tissue cultures). In my location, I can just about get away with the cooler nights as no frost, but I do have to keep it and its fellow ferns nicely misted and moist. Posted 4 years ago
