Leopard slug hanging by slime thread It was a bit of a shock finding this hanging on the inside of the door towards our garden. This large Leopard slug was hanging by a slime thread of about a meter long, and it was crawling down, producing large amounts of slime to extend its thread. Kind of like a very slow spiderman (top speed is 6 inches per minute, but only when in a hurry).<br />

"Limax maximus", known by the common names great grey slug and leopard slug, is a species of slug in the family Limacidae, the keeled slugs. It is among the largest keeled slugs, "Limax cinereoniger" being the largest.
