  1. This looks like a Summer Snowflake (Leucojum aestivum), but there is no wiki page for it. There is some information about the species on the genus page.
Summer Snowflake or Loddon Lily (Leucojum aestivum) are bulbous plants belonging to the Amaryllidaceae family.
The snowflakes are native to central and southern Europe, from the Pyrenées to Romania and western Russia, but they have been introduced and have naturalized in many other areas, including the east coast of North America. They have narrow, strap-like, dark green leaves. The flowers are small and bell-shaped, white with a green spot at the end of each tepal. They have a slight fragrance.
Summer snowflake has a wider natural range, taking in Europe (including the British Isles), southwest Asia and northern Iran, and growing in wetter habitats including damp woodland, riversides and swamps. Despite its common name it flowers from April to May, though later than the Spring Snowflake. It is a taller plant than Leucojum vernum, growing to around 60 cm (2 ft), but its flowers are smaller and are carried in an umbel of between three and seven. Its fleshy seed pods are inflated, allowing them to be dispersed by flood water. Leucojum aestivum subsp. pulchellum (Salisb.) Briq., native to the western Mediterranean Basin, is smaller: 20 cm (8 in), and flowers 2 weeks earlier, i.e., from mid-March.

    1. Species created manually, thanks for the research! Posted 12 years ago
      1. I knew these species so it was not too much of a research, just a check which one it is.
By the way, I noticed that the information about the snowdrop is missing http://www.jungledragon.com/specie/266/galanthus_nivalis.html
Moreover, there are photos of two species of Galanthus there, because there is no wiki page for G. elwesii.

        1. Thanks, wiki info added to the snowdrop added. Posted 12 years ago
    2. Snowdrop (Galanthus navalis) is often confused with Summer snowflake, one difference is the snowdrop is a smaller plant. Snowdrop also comes in a double flower. Posted 12 years ago
      1. The main differentiating characters are the tepals (petals and sepals that are similar to each other). While snowflakes (Leucojum species) have six equal tepals, in snowdrops (Galanthus species) the three inner tepals are shorter and broader than the three outer tepals, forming a central tube.

This one has equal tepals, hence it is a snowflake.
