Theradid spider with earwig prey Cryptachaea gigantipes is a native species, common across south-east Australia, within family Theridiidae, same as our famous redbacks. (However, these do not carry venom medically significant to humans as redbacks do). Natural habitat for this species is under rock overhangs and inside caves...and now also under eaves, in porches and inside our houses. <br />
