
Woody Underwing - Catocala grynea
TL: ~25 mm. Chestnut streak along inner margin. Fragmented AM and PM lines widen at costa. HW is golden yellow with black bands and checkered fringe. Hosts: Apple, cherry, hawthorn, and plum. Status: Common.
Habitat: Attracted to 365+395 nm LED lights in a semi-rural area

"Catocala grynea", the woody underwing, is a moth of the family Erebidae. It is found in North America from Ontario and Quebec through Maine and Connecticut, south to Florida, west to Texas and north through Iowa to Wisconsin and Minnesota.
