Allium flavum L. – Fragrant Yellow Allium, Yellow Onion
Perennial herb with bulb, 20–60 cm high, erect stem, leaves linear, grey-green to 0,3 cm wide. Flowers yellow, bell-shaped. Fruit is an ovoid capsule.
Distribution: Southern Europe and southern parts of Central Europe, Caucasus.
Habitat: Grows on sunny slopes and rocks at lower altitudes.

Unlike the Purple flowered garlic which takes it's bract off like a hat

this one has two long narrow bracts which stand out. You can see the different stages of the unfolding of the umbel. Posted 12 years ago
