Flying Ant Day (Lasius niger)
I don't know if FAD (Flying Ant Day) is a 'thing' elsewhere other than in the UK, where these Flying Ants push the weather off the conversational Top of the Pops for a few days.
See. We can't even get the title right.
To see what all the fuss is about watch this video and read the accompanying species information.

The black garden ant is a formicine ant, the type species of the subgenus ''Lasius'', found all over Europe and in some parts of North America and Asia. It is monogynous, meaning colonies have a single queen.

I meant Moth Week, which I've just realised I've almost missed.
My apologies. I've spent most of this week undergoing various medical tests so was somewhat distracted.
