
Giant Water Bug - Lethocerus americanus
*Tentative ID because it is also very similar to Benacus griseus.
I was mothing when this beastie flew up behind me and started crawling on my head. It scared me so much that I actually screamed. Thankfully, it was polite enough to stay nearby temporarily so I could get a photo. It was close to 6 cm long. It was huge.
Habitat: Attracted to a light and my head; semi-rural area

''Lethocerus americanus'' is a giant water bug in the family Belostomatidae, native to North America. It was originally classified as a species in genus ''Belostoma''.
