Grey Butcherbird The Grey Butcherbird along with other Butcherbirds get their name by the way they treat their catch. As with Butchers (person) they hang their catch in the fork of trees and pull it apart, the main problem is they have a short memory and forget where they hang their catch so you end up with bodies hanging everywhere. The grey butcherbird is a widely distributed species endemic to Australia. It occurs in a range of different habitats including arid, semi-arid and temperate zones. It is found across southern Australia, but is absent from the deserts of central Australia and the monsoon tropics of northern Australia.
