  1. Great shot!

Not entirely convinced it's the granular poison frog though, it seems far too smooth. Seems more like "Oophaga pumilio". However, not 100% sure so will see if I can get a second opinion.

    1. Yes, I agree. In fact I was surprised that there were no spottings for this frog already in JD. For some of the frogs I have pics of the species name but for this one I think I did not have. I have changed the sp, thanks! :-) Posted 4 years ago, modified 4 years ago
      1. Thanks, Marta. The frog is none the lesser, it's gorgeous. Posted 4 years ago
  2. Might be poisonous but it's cute Posted 4 years ago
    1. They are! and I think they are only poisonous if they feed on certain mites and ants (see wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strawberry_poison-dart_frog). So in captivity they can be kept in a non-poisonous state (I hope :-D) Posted 4 years ago
  3. Beautiful little frog. I agree with Oophaga pumilio. It's a widespread species with a ton of variation, but always a great one to see. Posted 4 years ago

The strawberry poison-dart frog is a species of small poison dart frog found in Central America. It is common throughout its range, which extends from eastern central Nicaragua through Costa Rica and northwestern Panama. The species is often found in humid lowlands and premontane forest, but large populations are also found in disturbed areas such as plantations.
