Centre Islet!
This photo is a habitat photo. This piece of rock is once again alive with noise and a flutter of wings. It provides a fairly safe habitat for nesting Glaucous-winged gulls, Black Oystercatchers, a pair of Pigeon Guillemots, at least one pair of White-crowned Sparrows and a haul out for Harbour seals and both Stellar and California Sea Lions. Shore birds like killdeer, Black Turnstones and Surfbirds also frequent this little piece of rock. I am sure I have missed quite a few birds and haven’t started on the flora, the intertidal or surrounding waters where among other things we also see Orcas, Humpbacks and White-sided dolphins. It is quite the place to visit at any time of year!
