Kookaburra (Albino) The Albino gene in Kookaburras is rare. They would not survive in the wild for long. Not my best effort for a photo but was overcome by the bird itself, in Australia we can see a lot of Kookaburras but when you are able to see this amazing bird WOW. The laughing kookaburra is a bird in the kingfisher subfamily Halcyoninae. It is a large robust kingfisher with a whitish head and a brown eye-stripe. The upperparts are mostly dark brown but there is a mottled light-blue patch on the wing coverts.
