  1. Hi Lisa, this one has me puzzled!
    The shape is so uncannily like our European Penthimia that I would certainly suspect a close relation, but BG doesn't even list anything for subfamily Penthimiinae ... :-/

    Anyway, I can't really make your suggestion of Cyrtolobus (Membracidae) work for me either (that said, of course I know nothing about Nearctic hoppers, so I may well be wrong!).
    Penthimiinae would be in the family Cicadellidae, so maybe that's worth another look?

    P.S. Ahw, duh - BG has Penthimia in the Deltocephalinae. That may well be the most recent insight (I don't do Hoppers much).

    Somehow I would not be too surprised if yours turned out to be the rarer P. floridana, but we would certainly need to find some info on diagnostic characters ...
