    1. Yes thanks, there are quite a number in an old limestone quarry , where the pond doesn't look the best but the water is clean, there are also Great Crested Newts and quite a number of dragon flies and damsel flies. It's a bit of a gem. Here's one of last year's newtlets.

The palmate newt is a species of newt found in Western Europe, from Great Britain to the northern Iberian peninsula. It is 5–9.5 cm long and olive or brown with some dark spots.
