My partner found this female skink nesting under some plywood at a disturbed edge of a mixed forest. The male ran away, but this brave mama would not leave her eggs.

    1. Those millipedes are a menace and don't deserve any attention (why I didn't mention it). LOL The invasive Greenhouse Millipede (Oxidus gracilis)! They are EVERYWHERE. :'( Posted 4 years ago, modified 4 years ago

        1. Haha! I"m always grumping at introduced/invasive species, so don't mind me, Ferdy :)

          Good eye spotting the ant! I can't quite tell what it is, but it definitely isn't the invasive fire ant hybrid that is around this area! Between them, the millipedes, and the invasive ladybeetles I get so frustrated.

The five-lined skink is a species of lizard endemic to North America. It is one of the most common lizards in the eastern U.S. and one of the seven native species of lizards in Canada.
