Reticulated Python - Malayopython reticulatus This was a large sized Python, around 15 feet/5 meters, seen by the son of a friend from the local neighbourhood. They were out for evening walk after dinner close to forested area next to residential houses. They quickly called me and I was happy to go over to have a look. The Python was &#039;resting&#039; after a meal as it has a bloated tummy but that part was hidden in the bushes and only about 1.5 meters of the head part was visible outside the bushes.<br />
<br />
Residents from nearby houses were curious and came out to look and they told us several of their pet cats have been missing and they suspect they have been eaten by this Python. Initially they had wanted to kill it but I told them they should not and as compromise, the local Fire Rescue team were called to relocate this Python.<br />

    1. Thanks, Christine.
      Too many snakes have been killed, just because they are snakes :(
      But I did understand the concerns of the residents there as one of them showed me a video he took of a cobra in his house and that was not the only time, so those guys with their houses close to the forested areas have valid concerns.

      1. It's very sad. People here kill snakes too just because they are snakes. It's awful. But, I can understand the concern where you live since snakes there are more potentially dangerous. I hope that people learn to relocate them with respect though, rather than killing them. You are setting a good example! Posted 4 years ago
  2. Thanks so much for helping to rescue it, hopefully the locals make the same decision next time. Posted 4 years ago
    1. Unfortunately not, the following week, we saw pics posted in local groups of security guards of a high end condominium building killing a Python :( Posted 4 years ago

''Python reticulatus'', also known as the reticulated python, is a species of python found in Southeast Asia. Adults can grow to 6.95 metres in length but normally grow to an average of 3-6 meters. They are the world's longest snakes and longest reptile, but are not the most heavily built.
