Roadkill :( Saw this Malayan Pit Viper in the drain by the side of road near the entrance of a National Park, seems to be recently dead as bleeding on the head is not dried yet.     1. It looks intentional to me, unfortunately :(
      This National Park is very popular with the locals, especially those going for their exercises. Every morning, the moment it opens at 7am, hundreds of joggers and cyclists besides hikers are already waiting to get into the Park, as it has tarred road all the way up to the top of the hill. Most hikers takes to the trails, which is less crowded.

      1. Oh wow. I have found snakes with head wounds too. And, once, I found a pile of dead baby snakes that had been killed and piled up. It was awful. They were just harmless, water snakes. The parent (I assume) was lingering nearby the dead babies. Posted 4 years ago

''Calloselasma'' is a monotypic genus created for a venomous pit viper species, ''C. rhodostoma'', which is endemic to Southeast Asia from Thailand to northern Malaysia and on the island of Java. No subspecies are currently recognized.
