Didymium cf iridis Sorry for the not-so-great photos (it has been miserably hot out this week). This slime mold was growing on leaves, pine straw, and other detritus at a mixed forest edge (in a moist valley). June 2021. Gordon County, Georgia, US <br />

  1. I think the photos are really good, and it's a super cool species!

Want to run something by you. It seems all our slime molds currently are under kingdom "amoebozoa":

...however, your new species is under "Protozoa":
    https://www.jungledragon.com/wildlife/browse/protozoa

When looking up the taxonomy of this species, this does seem correct. However, now we have an identical sub structure, for example "Mycetozoa" under both kingdoms. It seems a duplication of the tree structure. Feels wrong, but I don't know what the correct way is, so thoughts very welcome :)

    1. Thanks!

      And lemme see.

The Amoebozoa are a major group of amoeboid protozoa. Amoebozoa would be considered the Phylum and not the Kingdom I think.
