Endemic to the islands of Indonesia, the largest species of lizard on earth.
I saw the komodo exhibit at Clyde Peeling's Reptiland. This establishment is part of the 'Komodo Dragon Species Survival Plan' through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

The Komodo dragon is a large species of lizard found in the Indonesian islands of Komodo, Rinca, Flores, Gili Motang, and Padar. A member of the monitor lizard family, it is the largest living species of lizard, growing to a maximum length of 3 metres in rare cases and weighing up to approximately 70 kilograms.
